Summary:

Event #1 in the Ambushed! event chain.

A vengeful faction kill team moves to ambush members of the Argo while they are planetside on a supply run.

Event Trigger Requirements:

  • Reputation with a faction at -80 or lower
  • The Argo is not currently traveling to a new system
  • You do not have any travel contracts accepted
  • Commander is uninjured
  • Two MechWarriors in your barracks are uninjured (not including the Commander)

Note:

  • This event creates a mandatory mission that must be completed immediately or it will be counted as a loss.
  • Although the mission is listed as a Duo Duel you will only be able to field one 'mech.
  • A post-event auto-save will be created after this event window closes but if you load it the game will treat it as though you had failed the mission. You will need to load the nearest save before this auto-save in order to not suffer the consequences of losing the mission.

WARNING: SPOILERS

The general quarters alarm sounds as Darius pages you on the intercom.

"Commander. As you know, we have people down on the planet surface on a supply run, including <MechWarrior>. We've just detected a small <Faction> kill team on track to ambush our people before they make it back to the shuttle. We need to drop immediately and take out the kill team before they can intercept our supply run."

"Copy that, XO. Sumire, get the Leopard prepped for launch!"

Option A - "Proceed to Mission Brief":

"OK people, this is gonna get hairy. We're dropping between the <Faction> kill team and our people. We'll hit the kill team in some old ruins that make for a natural choke point. If the OpFor makes it past us, there's nothing to stop them from from hitting our people on the ground. Let's take out the kill team and escort our people home. We only have time to prep a couple mechs, and we're shorthanded with <MechWarrior> down on the surface."

Result:

  • Duo Duel: Ambush added to the Command Center
  • A randomly selected uninjured MechWarrior on your roster will be unavailable for the duration of the mission
