Description

In the 3060s, the Free Worlds League found themselves in need of a dedicated e-war design for the increasingly complicated battlefield. The FWLM brass toyed with several ideas and eventually settled on a previously-rejected redesign of the venerable Cyclops that downsized the mech to the heavy mech weight class. Naming it the Hecatoncheires after the mythical siblings of the cyclopses, the new mech would carry a mixed loadout as well as dedicated e-war gear. An Angel ECM, Bloodhound Active Probe, and C3 Slave system provide maximum e-war potential while a battery of missiles and lasers provide no-frills firepower. The HEC-4C proved a success and several variants were commissioned as well as the design being sold to various other powers.

Description

After the release of the HEC-4H, FWLM high command decided to make several variants, including one that was a purely combat variant that dropped the e-war premise entirely. Critics derided this variant as 'needless' and 'it's just a bad heavy mech' but the brass was undeterred. An AC/20, LRM-15, SRM-6, pair of Medium Lasers, and a Small Laser provide moderate firepower for a mech its tonnage while an XL Engine and 12 DHS give power and heat sinking. The HEC-4H proved a basically functional combat design and was accepted into the FWLM without much issue but also little fanfare.

Description

With the success of the HEC-4C, FWLM brass decided on commissioning some upgrades. Of them, the -5C was the one that won the bidding war and was put into production. Using ComStar's new Improved C3 Computer as well as advanced weaponry, the HEC-5C proved more than sufficient for the modern battlefield. Armed with a Rotary AC/5 and 30 tubes of MRMs as well as a battery of ER Medium Lasers, the -5C relies heavily on its Bloodhound Active Probe and its C3i system for maximum effectiveness. 11 DHS and CASE provide longevity on the field of honor.
