Description

Originally conceived as a totem mech for Clan Fire Mandrill, the Howler was first seen in the Inner Sphere as a part of Jade Falcon second-line forces. With a high ground speed of 119 kph and packing a powerful punch for its size of triple LRM-5s, the Howler is surprisingly potent for a 20-ton mech. The high speed and heavy armament is made possible by Clan weight saving technologies such as Endo-Steel structure and Ferro-Fibrous armor. The Howler also has deep ammo bins for its size, meaning it makes a great mech for training new MechWarriors.

Bonuses

Description

The original Howler was a Fire Mandrill mech but proliferated out into the other Clans fairly quickly given Fire Mandrill's fractious nature. Among the Clans to acquire the Howler was Clan Steel Viper, who redesigned the mech before their ejection from the Inner Sphere by Clan Jade Falcon. Jade Falcon then salvaged the Howler 2 and spread it through the other Inner Sphere Clans. The Howler 2 takes the 1's fire support mandate to the next level, replacing the LRM-5s with a quartet of ATM-3s. This requires an XL Engine and to slow it down, but a MASC system keeps it quick.

Description

Originally conceived as a totem mech for Clan Fire Mandrill, the Howler was first seen in the Inner Sphere as a part of Jade Falcon second-line forces. Developed by Clan Jade Falcon, this model drops two of the LRM-5s and installs Jump Jets that can cover 210 meters. The ammunition bay is reduced to a single ton. It is prominently used as a trainer.
