As you return to your quarters one evening, Darius catches you in the hallway.

"Commander, have you seen Max recently?"

"No. Why, Darius?"

"You should check your messages. No one has seen him since our last supply run."

You have a sinking feeling as you read the message from Max:

Commander. I can't believe you'd go back on your word to me. I just heard from my sources that the Star Commander has returned to Strana Mechty, and I'll probably never get another chance. If you're reading this, I've already left. I doubt you'll see me again. Thanks for everything. Thanks for nothing.

Some time later, you hear rumors of an Inner Sphere MechWarrior killed while attempting to sneak a battered Commando into a Clan Wolf Forward Operating Base.
