Option A - "Make the crew take responsibility.":

Note: Choosing this option unlocks the next event in this chain called "Distress Call".

Outcome 1 - 75% chance - "Cats Well Received"

"Fine, everyone gets a cat."

You give a draconic speech about the values of honesty. If the crew is going to keep them, at least let them be kept in public. Nobody seems to mind the sermon. The cats are well received and quickly find names and homes aboard.

<Random MechWarrior> seems elated about Artemis.

The Cook in particular seems pleased, and you realize the canned tuna must've come from her stocks.

Result:

  • Morale increased by 2

Outcome 2 - 25% chance - "Cats Poorly Received"

"Fine, everyone gets a cat."

You give a draconic speech about the values of honesty. If the crew is going to keep them, at least let them be kept in public. Not everyone seems to like cats, and the mandate is poorly received. <Random MechWarrior> in particular is disgusted: "I've got allergies, Commander!"

The Cook seems very relieved the cats didn't get airlocked, and you realize the canned tuna must've come from her stocks.

Result:

  • Morale decreased by 1
  • Random MechWarrior gains Low Spirits for 1 day

Option B - "Airlock them.":

Note: Choosing this option ends the event chain.

You've had it with these pests. They used to keelhaul traitors back in the day. You're not sure who is responsible, but they can get airlocked too.

As you turn around you see <Random MechWarrior> standing there with their eyes wide open: "Commander? Was... was that?"

You stare them down, but you grit your teeth knowing word will get around that you're some kind of monster... again. This is going to be a hard month.

Result:

  • Commander gains Low Spirits for 30 days
  • Command gains pilot tag: Assassin for 30 days
  • Morale decreased by 3
