Event Details:

WARNING: SPOILERS

You have a message from Blaze. Apparently we've arrived in the system just in time for a race, and she needs to know whether to sign up:

Commander, if we're going to do this race, there are a few things you need to know. This one takes place in the highlands, so we have a few options. I can push hard and drive aggressively, but we'll probably banged up pretty good on some of those rocky outcroppings and ravines. On the other hand, I can play it a bit safer and hope to make up the time in the straightaways. Like most of these races, there's also an optional "shortcut" route; this one appears to run through a dense boulder field with a lot of tight turns. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed, and I'll get things ready to go. Of course if we don't have time, I understand.

SERIOUSLY, MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD. CLICK HERE FOR FULL BREAKDOWN OF EVENT OPTIONS

Option A - "Drive aggressively.":

Although Blaze did her best to avoid the roughest areas, the harsh trails of the highlands were too much for the little Ibex. Blaze lost control when the Ibex snapped a control arm and rolled into a ravine, bending the front sub-frame and, even worse, breaking a wrist.

Result:

  • Morale decreased by 2
  • Company C-Bills decreased by 100,000
  • 1 race loss added to season record
  • Blaze gains 1 injury
  • Company Mech Tech skill reduced by 2 for 7 days

Option B - "Play it safe.":

Sometimes slow is fast, a hard but vital lesson for someone like Blaze to learn. By taking her time in the tricky parts, she was able to keep the Ibex in one piece while her opponents shook themselves to bits. Once the trail cleared a bit, she took the lead and the win.

Result:

  • Morale increased by 1
  • Company C-Bills increased by 100,000
  • 1 race win added to season record

Option C - "Take the shortcut.":

Drive smarter, not harder. Someone definitely said that at some point, and in this case it turned out to be true. Blaze deftly guided the nimble Ibex through the boulder field, taking a comfortable lead. By the end of the race, her opponents had all either dropped out from mechanical troubles or were kilometers behind.

Result:

  • Morale increased by 2
  • Company C-Bills increased by 100,000
  • 1 race win added to season record

Option D - "Hold off on racing for now.":

Blaze knows that contracts are more important than racing. Besides, there are plenty of other races to run.

Result:

  • No change

Note: selecting this option does not lock you out of accepting the There Can Be Only One! race event in the future.
