Description

The Ostroc carries as its primary weapons two Fuersturm-C Large Lasers in the left and right torsos. These give the Ostroc good medium to long range damage capabilities. The Ostrocs secondary weapons are two Fuersturm-b Medium Lasers also mounted in the side torsos and a Totschlagen SRM-4 launcher in the right torso for close-range combat, with one ton of reloads carried in the center torso. While the Ostroc's laser-heavy weapons payload allows it to operate well as a guerrilla fighter since it has limited dependency on supply lines, its short arms are a handicap in close combat, and the shocks of hand-to-hand fighting can easily damage the Fuersturm systems.

Description

This upgrade of the 2C was used by the SLDF Royals starting in 2729. The large lasers are upgraded to ER Large Lasers, and the SRM-4 is replaced with a pair of Streak SRM-2s. Fourteen double heat sinks keep this 'Mech cool, while Ferro-Fibrous armor gives it additional protection.

Description

Upgraded with Star League technology, the 2D variant of the Ostroc extends the 'Mechs maximum range by replacing the Large Lasers with two ER Large Lasers. The 2D retains the Medium Lasers and SRM-4 of the 2C model. To handle the heat burden it is also equipped with double heat sinks. Being a relatively rare design, the Ostroc had no official field refit kit but the 2D variant was a common upgrade in 3050 if the parts could be obtained.

The 2L variant of the Ostroc introduced in 2884 is modified for long range combat. The SRM-4 launcher has been replaced with an LRM-5 launcher, increasing the 'Mechs long-range damage capabilities slightly by sacrificing some of its close range firepower.

Description

An experimental model produced by Kong Interstellar for the Free Worlds League in 2793, the 2M variant of the Ostroc focuses on the 'Mech's maneuverability. Five jump jets, two in each leg and one in the rear torso, have been added to the design, giving it a maximum jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters. In order to make this change, the medium lasers and the SRM-4 launcher were removed. Relatively few of these were built between the League's annexation of Connaught and the factory's destruction.

Ostmann Industries has many dedicated fans and Periphery Arms, Inc. counts itself among them. To that end, PAI produced the Ostroc OSR-2PA in order to showcase their new Chemical Pulse Lasers. Armed with two each Large and Medium Chemical Pulse Lasers, the -2PA is a fast and accurate design. A RL-15 provides bonus punch, should it be necessary.

An old 'Mech, the Ostroc received litle love in the Sanctuary Worlds. History has forgotten why the Ostroc was largely looked over for most of the Sanctuary's history but looked over it was, until recently, making it fairly rare in their militaries. The OSR-3G is a cutting edge Ostroc, the most advanced in the Sanctuary Worlds arsenals. Armed exclusively with two Gamma Cannons, the -3G puts its speed to work by finding the best places to strike from then fading away before return fire can be marshalled. 15 DHS do a fine job maintaining the guns while Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous permit a little extra armor to be mounted.

Description

A somewhat unusual departure from the traditionally energy-focused Ostroc design, the OSR-3J shifts the focus to missile weaponry instead. Armed with a quartet of Streak SRM-4s between the torsos and the head, the -3J poses a solid threat to anything that closes with it. For ranged firepower it carries four ER Medium Lasers. A quintet of jump jets let it move about easily and 14 double heat sinks try in vain to keep the mech cool.

The OSR-3L is a somewhat more advanced upgrade of the Ostroc, made only recently as the 'Mech came back into prominence. Armed with twin Large and Medium Lances, as well as a VRM-6 for long-range, the -3L proved an adept combatant in almost any circumstance. 16 DHS and 3 Heat Negators struggle mightily to contain the mech's heat.

History has forgotten why the Ostroc was largely looked over for most of the Sanctuary's history but looked over it was, until recently, making it fairly rare in their militaries. The OSR-3M is a simple and easy upgrade on the Ostroc OSR-3S. Replacing the Electro-Lasers with Modal Lasers required the addition of an XL Engine for tonnage, however, the XL saved so much weight that four full tons could be dedicated to Heat Controllers and Negators. The DRM-4 was retained from the -3S.

Armed with twin Large Electro-Lasers, twin Medium Electro-Lasers, and a DRM-4, the OSR-3S managed to pack in some extra heat sinks and armor on the normal Ostroc frame. The 'Mech is capable and effective, just overlooked. Still, enterprising commanders can get good results with the old Ostroc.

Description

A Periphery variant of the Ostroc produced by Vandenburg Mechanized on New Vandenburg, the 4C is strikingly similar to the Capellans' 4L variant. Its armor has been upgraded with nine tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor, giving it more protection than previous models. Additionally, the SRM-4 launcher has been removed in favor of two Rocket Launcher 10s and two Rocket Launcher 15s, giving the 'Mech an incredible one-shot damage capability., During the FCCW, the Capellan Confederation salvaged a number of Osirises from the Federated Suns. Unsure of what to do with the mech, the Capellans settled on making it into a stealthy raider. Equipped with the Confederation's new Stealth Armor and a bevy of lasers and missiles, the Osiris-4C quickly established itself as capable, if unexceptional. It is often seen alongside the Confederation's Raven-4L stealth mechs working in effective wolfpacks.

Description

One of the most advanced upgrades of the Ostroc ever deployed, the -4L model does away with volatile ammunition based weapons in favor of a pure energy loadout. Armed with a pair each of ER Large Lasers and ER Medium Lasers, the weaponry may seem anemic, but the -4L does not make use of an expensive XL engine while moving at speeds reaching 80 kph and jump distances of over 150 meters. To give the Mech more endurance, the -4L uses Stealth Armor.

Description

The rebirth of the Terran Hegemony brought with it a need for a restarted military sector among the core worlds of the Inner Sphere. To meet the new Hegemony's demand for material, the various corporations of the Inner Sphere got right to work on new variants for the Hegemony's war machine. One such design is the OSR-4R, a rapid-response flanking design utilizing the Hegemony's preferred lasers, the X-Pulse Lasers. Armed with two each of Large and Medium X-Pulses, the Ostroc has an unexpected reach against all opponents. A lone SRM-4 provides a small amount of utility thanks to alternative ammunition loads.

Description

The Ostroc Mk.II's story is the story of its arms. Specifically, the unique shoulder mounted jump jets they carry. Ostmann Industries managed, via some dark magic, to craft arm-mountable jump jets and built the Mk.II to carry them so carry them it did. Other than its unusual arm-mounted jump jets (which are especially powerful, though they are also explosive) the Mk.II carries twin Large Lasers and Medium Lasers as well as two SRM-2s for firepower. 19 standard heat sinks are plenty to manage the mech's waste heat and even though it was not a sales success, its performance was adequate enough to ensure they could be found in a few Great Houses inventories for decades to come.

Description

Named after writer of the most famous allegory in human history, the Dante, much like that man's Inferno, roasts its enemies alive in the arenas of the Inner Sphere. Powered by an XL 300-rated engine and equipped with a quartet of jump jets, the Dante can easily and swiftly bring its twin Plasma Rifles and SRM-4s (with inferno ammo, naturally) to bear on its opponent. Little to nothing survives the mech's fiery embrace.
