Description
The original Firestarter model, the FS9-A used Small Lasers instead of Machine Guns and mounted an extra ton of armor. This caused some heat issues and led to the development of the more familiar FS9-H, with its Machine Guns.

Description
Developed by Coventry Metal Works for the Circinus Federation, the FS9-C is a decidedly Periphery twist on the Firestarter. The -C's twin Medium Lasers and Flamers do a fine job in normal combat and the four Rocket Launcher-10s and two Rocket Launcher-15s provide a heavy unexpected punch. However, due to the overwhelming number of Firestarters in the Periphery already, the -C's sales were low and the variant was considered a financial failure for Coventry.

Description
The Firestarter-J is a very focused and highly specific Firestarter variant. Ditching the usual Flamers and energy weapons, the -J goes entirely in on Machine Guns, specifically MG Arrays. Armed with 4 MG Arrays, the Firestarter-J carries no other weaponry. It was built for one purpose: to destroy conventional forces. Mech fighting is a secondary concern for the -J but it's proven moderately effective against pre-weakened targets. Still, the -J needs real support when fighting other mechs.

Description
Manufactured by the Circinus Federation and used to 'pacify' civilians, the FS9-P carries twin Medium and Small Lasers as well as four Flamers. While these weapons are normal Firestarter fare, the paired SRM-2s loaded with Inferno ammo are less normal and give the -P its surprise punch. The -P proved popular among the Circinian armed forces and was spread around the Periphery quickly, appearing among most larger nation's armies.

Description
Firestarters are known for a lot of things, but ballistic firepower isn't one of them. At least it wasn't until today, with the FS9-PA2 and its twin torso-mounted Light Rifles. A battery of Medium and Small Lasers and a solitary Flamer back up the Light Rifles while a Prototype XL engine provides power to the design. 6 jump jets keep it mobile while 10 standard heat sinks try in vain to keep it all cool.

Description
The Firestarter-Q is a rare variant that decides to up the mech's arsenal against other hardened military targets while maintaining its use against conventional forces. It carries a massive six Flamers for conventional work while against larger targets a PPC provides solid direct-fire capability. To pay for all this tonnage, the mech is powered by a XL engine and a brace of double heat sinks to keep the heat manageable.

Designed for a mercenary company with big ideas and bigger checkbooks, the Firestarter FS9-SB was built around a rare and cutting-edge Light HVAC/5 with 1 ton of ammo, often specialty ammo. With a brace of specialized and rare Medium and Small Lasers, the -SB is functional at any range. To gain the tonnage for this though, the -SB down-engines to a XL 200-rated engine and uses Heavy Ferro-Fibrous armor. A C3 Slave allows it to link into targeting networks as necessary.

Description
While most Firestarters lean on their history as an incendiary disabler 'Mech, the FS10-N instead rips out all the weaponry and swaps the structure in order to provide ranged fire-support for any situation. Armed with a Neutrino Projector Cannon, or NPC, the FS10-N is capable of putting holes in anything at any range. A Flamer and a Small Electro-Laser back it up at point-blank but they're largely unnecessary as not much can stand up to the NPC's firepower. The -N proved a relatively unpopular variant and is uncommon among the Sanctuary armies.

Description
An unusual twist on the typical Firestarter mantra of 'go fast, burn things, leave a pretty corpse', the FS10-V leans into survivability instead. Clad in Ferro-Vanadium armor that dissipates incoming ballistic and missile attacks and built on a durable yet bulky Endo-Carbide structure, the FS10-V is surprisingly difficult to destroy meaning that its twinned Large Electro-Lasers have plenty of time to do their bloody work. A trio of Flamers pay lip service to the Firestarter's roots. Unfortunately, even with an XL engine, the Jump Jets had to be cut for weight, making the -V less maneuverable than might be expected.
