Description

The original version of the Dervish that was produced in 2520 was not up to the same standards as contemporary Terran Hegemony designs. The use of comparatively primitive parts resulted in a heavier cockpit, engine, and less efficient armor. Consequently, the 1S had a top speed of 64 km/h and could only jump ninety meters. While the missile launchers were the same as the 6M, it did not have that version's lasers. 1S variants continued to exist in militias, but were raided for parts during the Succession Wars.

Description

The Dervish carries as its main weapons two Federated 10-Shot LRM launchers. These missile launchers give the Dervish the long-range capability needed to provide fire support to friendly units and are safely embedded in the torso as opposed to the exposed launchers on other 'Mechs. A ton of ammunition per launcher provides sufficient endurance for any but the most prolonged battles. For close combat, the Dervish carries two Federated 2-Shot SRM launchers and two ChisComp 39 Medium Lasers. The SRM launchers are completely self-contained within the forearms, allowing them to be aimed quickly, and fed by a ton of ammunition each. The lasers are placed just above the launchers and ensure the 'Mech is still capable of fighting should it run out of missiles. The Dervish is capable of jumping 150 meters and is protected by seven and a half tons of armor.

Description

The Dervish DV-6PA is a versatile machine, as befits its origins as a Dervish. The -6PA swaps all the weaponry out while keeping to the same bones as the stock -6M: a core 275, five jump jets, and SHS. The weapons have been replaced with twin Medium Binary Lasers and Rocket Launcher-10s with attached ammo feeds in the arms while a pair of Gyrojet-15s provide ranged punch as necessary.

Description

The 7D Dervish is a 3047 upgrade of the design using Star League technology. The 'Mech is built with an Endo Steel chassis and also uses eight tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor with CASE for protection against ammunition explosions. With the saved weight, the SRM-2s have been upgraded to Federated SuperStreak SRMs and the 'Mech uses double heat sinks. This variant was first produced by Achernar BattleMechs on New Avalon.

Description

The 8D Dervish utilizes some of the newest technologies available at the time of the variant's introduction in 3062. The 'Mech is built with an Endo Steel chassis and is powered by an extralight engine. It also carries two more tons of armor than the 6M model. The weapons carried by the 8D are two LRM-15 launchers with an Artemis IV fire control system, while the SRM launchers and medium lasers were removed for four ER Medium Lasers.

Description

This upgrade of the -8D introduced in the 3060s removes the missile launchers and replaces them with four MML-5s with five tons of ammunition to provide flexibility in the usage of munitions. The saved tonnage was used to add an additional double heat sink, though the heat management system can be quickly overtaxed at short range. 11.5 tons of armor improves the 'Mech's durability and a targeting computer was added to aid the accuracy of the lasers.

Description

The Dervish has historically been highly popular with Sanctuary pilots thanks to its mobility and solid weapon options, but there were always complaints about its durability. With that in mind, several Dane Sacellum engineers set out to make a more durable Dervish and they succeeded. Using a rock-solid Dense Engine and using SHIELD for both of the mech's ammo bins, they managed to make a tank from the Dervish. However, the weapons had to be weakened, dropping to a trio of Medium Modal Lasers, a pair of APM-4s with 4 total tons of ammo, and a Small Electro-Laser. Still, the -10A was quite popular and saw many production runs.

Description

Strangely, the DV-10K is not a Kuritan machine, despite the presence of its massive amount of MRM tubes. Instead, the -10K is a mercenary refit of the Davion DV-8D that is a simple weapon swap, losing the -8D's armaments for a sextet of MRM-10s. The design comes from a down on their luck mercenary command who found themselves with a surplus of both MRM launchers and Dervishes. While the MRM family is widely regarded as a poor weapon system, they just made do with what they had. The -10K has since caught on in the merc market.

Description

A truly classic Hegemony design, the Dervish has a long and proud service history in the Sanctuary Worlds armies, serving as the archtypical support trooper mech. The Dervish DV-10L was designed to lean more into the trooper design mindset. Armed with a trio of Lances as primary weapons, one Large and two Mediums, the Dervish backs them up with a DRM-6 and APM-4. The DRM pulls from a half-ton bin while the APM has two full tons for best effectiveness. 14 DHS and a pair of Heat Negators keep it cool-running.

Built on an Endo-Steel frame and clad in Ferro-Fibrous armor, the Dervish's twin VRM-12 missile racks provide no-frills ranged support fire. Up close, a pair each of DRM-2s and Medium Electro-Lasers give solid punch. The Dervish's armor has been upgraded from the old Inner Sphere standard while keeping the good maneuverability. Overall, the -10M is a strong improvement on the original.

The Dervish DV-10V takes the fire support mandate of the mech to an extreme, mounting exclusively VRMs, a pair each of VRM-12s and VRM-6s. With three tons of SHIELD protected ammunition, the Dervish doesn't stay in the fight long but it wins it from range fairly reliably. The -10V was an unpopular variant due to the lack of backup weapons or jump jets and was quickly shuffled off to local militias.

Special Note: The Dervish IIC is a custom Community Content 'Mech.

Description

The Dervish served the Star League Defense Force long and well and when the SLDF left the Inner Sphere on their Exodus, they took many examples of the Dervish with them. Over the centuries, these would eventualy be refit to a more modern Clan standard and christened the Dervish IIC. Used as a garrison design, the Dervish IIC largely does not make use of expensive components such as an XL Engine, instead relying on Endo-Steel for weight-savings. The Dervish IIC shares the same speed as its progenitor and has a similar loadout of LRMs, Streak SRMs, and some Clan-spec Medium Laser variants.
